Call them Afro-Asians, Afrasians, Black Asians or even the most novelty name ‘Blasians’. The race of African Asians are African people mixed with Asian people. These Blasians evolved as a result of slave trade, human migration and social conflicts. While some of them have gained freedom and acceptance into modern society some are still living in obscurity due to segregation and discrimination.

The Siddi / Sheedi, Sidi or Siddhi people
The Siddi people are of African origin, living in India. They originated from East Africa, present day Tanzania, Kenya and Mozambique as a result of the Indian Ocean slave Trade.
Today, in India, they occupy regions such as Karnataka, Gujarat, Maharashtra and a small portion of the city of Hyderabad.
Negrito
Also known as Filipino Negrito. The Negrito is a name for African natives dominantly found in the Philippines and dispersed in some parts of Southeast Asia, and the Andaman Islands in India . The Negrito have 3 tribes- ‘Aeta, Ati and Agta’ and possess very distinctive features such as dark skin, curly hair and relatively short stature .
Papuans
Papuans are the famous indigenous people of New Guinea (the second largest island in the world) , Papua New Guinea and Indonesia. They have a complex yet homogenous culture and possess a strong bond with their land and environment . Some of their languages include - Tok Pisin, Hiri, Motu, Unserdeutsch and Papuan Malay.
Tamils
The Tamils are another set of Afro-Asians native to India and Sri Lanka but have spread to Malaysia and Singapore . Tamils have made significant contributions to art, literature, and science, and their civilization has witnessed periods of glory, including the Chola and Pandya dynasties. The Tamils speak the Tamil language and practise a variety of faiths including Hinduism, Islam, Christianity and Jainism.
Katanga Afro-Japanese
These are the ‘unknown’ Japanese-Congolese mixed race. It is claimed that this race sprang up in 1970 when increased demand for copper cobalt attracted Japanese investments to the southeastern region of Katanga Province of Congo. With time the male Japanese sought intimacy with the Congolese women, which resulted in Afro- Japanese children. Till today, this claim remains contentious.
